  • Heating up the hot tub – step by step

Follow the steps below to get the most out of your hot tub experience. It’s easier than it looks!

Step 1 – Check the water level.

Before you start, check that there is enough water in the hot tub. Ensure the openings (inlets/outlets) on the inside of the hot tub are well below the water line.

Step 2 – Light the heater.

You will find fire-lighting coils in the basket in the kitchen.

    1. Place one coil in the center of the grate inside the heater.

    2. Then, build a small 'teepee' of kindling around the coil (see image below). Use the kindling from the metal bin for this. 3. Light the fire-lighting coil.

    4. Close the heater door and open the air vent fully.

Step 3 – Let the fire get going. Once the kindling is burning well, carefully add a few more pieces of kindling until the fire is burning strongly. Do not use any more kindling from this point on; it is intended solely for starting the fire. From now on, use only the firewood from the wood store.

Step 4 – Add small logs.

Take a few small, dry logs from the wood store and place them carefully onto the fire.

Step 5 – Build up the fire. Is the fire burning well? Add a few more small logs to allow the heater to heat up further.

Step 6 – Use larger logs. Once the heater is hot and the fire is strong, you can add larger logs. Once the heater has reached the right temperature, you can fill the firebox completely. The wood is well-seasoned. Even if it looks a bit damp on the outside, it will burn perfectly well.

Step 7 – Heat the water faster. Open one half of the lid and give the water a vigorous stir with the paddle every now and then. This distributes the heat more effectively and helps the hot tub heat up faster. Then, immediately put the lid back in place to minimize heat loss.

Step 8 – The hot tub is almost ready

Once the water temperature rises above 30°C, you can remove the lid, add a few more logs, and get into the hot tub. As a general rule:

    • At an outdoor temperature of around 15°C, it takes approximately 2 hours for the hot tub to reach the right temperature. -
    • If you have little experience with wood-burning stoves, start about 3 hours in advance. Add a log occasionally and stir the water regularly.
    • Please note: Heating takes longer at lower outdoor temperatures;
    • It goes a bit faster at higher oudoor temperatures
We completely refresh the water for every new guest. As a result, the water is usually around 10°C at the start.

    Step 9 – After use

Put the lid back on immediately after leaving the hot tub. This helps keep the water pleasantly warm for up to two days. Never leave the accommodation while there is still a fire burning in the stove. Use the kindling only to light the fire. We do not charge extra for using the hot tub, so we kindly ask you to use the firewood carefully and sparingly.

We hope you enjoy the hot tub and have a wonderful stay! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
